77 degrees F. outside and I’m bundled up under the covers with the flu. Chai tea and good books are a pretty great vicarious escape.
Since I’m forced to play hookie today, I’m indulging in my favorite Adventure Diva book, Alix Kates Shulman’s “Drinking the Rain”. I would give a copy of this to every single one of my friends if I could. It’s about the art of finding yourself in time alone, in 3-day long conversations with dear friends, disconnected from technology and the grid.
I read this book at least once a year. It’s an ideal that has been a bit of a siren song for me for nearly 15 years, and the one that stills me when I fret getting old.
So, being sick today is more of a gift than a curse 🙂
